AFC Ajax seized the upper hand in the Dutch Cup final after a 2-0 first-leg win against Feyenoord. Siem de Jong struck twice inside the opening seven minutes, giving Martin Jol's side the advantage ahead of the return at the De Kuip Stadium on 6 May. The Amsterdam club are a point adrift of Eredivisie leaders FC Twente going into next weekend's final round of fixtures.

Eriksen signs new Ajax deal

Danish international Christian Eriksen has prolonged his contract with AFC Ajax by three years until June 2014. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder joined the Ajax youth set up from Odense BK in 2008 and has enjoyed a breakthrough season at the club. He made his first-team bow on 17 January and after a regular run in the side made his international debut against Austria on 3 March. "Despite many rumours, I have never considered leaving here," he said. "I only want to stay with Ajax."

Ajax take Twente down to the wire

The Eredivisie title race will go down to the final day after AFC Ajax and FC Twente both triumphed to leave the latter one point clear at the top. Twente lost to AZ Alkmaar in midweek but got back on track on Sunday with a 2-0 victory against Feyenoord, who are replaced by AZ in fourth. Ajax beat Heracles Almelo 4-0 and are a point adrift ahead of their concluding fixture at NEC Nijmegen on 2 May. Twente play NAC Breda with the championship still in their hands.
