FC Lokomotiv Moskva have named coach Yuri Krasnozhan as the successor to Yuri Semin, who was dismissed on 30 November following the conclusion of the 2010 Russian domestic season.
The former PFC Spartak Nalchik boss, 47, has signed a contract until the summer of 2013 at Lokomotiv and will officially take up his new position on Monday. "I understand the responsibility at Lokomotiv," said Krasnozhan. "I think we need strengthening in every single area. I am not speaking about replacing somebody from the first XI, it's about having a bigger squad. That does not necessarily mean we have to buy, as we can use our own resources as well."
After working at Spartak Nalchik as both player and assistant coach, Krasnozhan took sole command at the club in 2003, leading them into the Premier-Liga two years later. This season they came sixth, their best-ever finish. The Railway Boys, meanwhile, ended the 2010 campaign a place higher to earn a UEFA Europa League third qualifying round berth for the 2011/12 European season.
