Mirko Slomka has signed a two-year contract extension which will keep him at the Hannover 96 helm until summer 2013.
Slomka took over at Hannover in January 2010, steering them clear of relegation and to a 15th-placed finish. His previous posts included a spell at FC Schalke 04, whom he guided to second in the German top flight and the 2006 UEFA Cup semi-finals.
"I'm staying with Hannover out of a deep conviction," said the 43-year-old. "I'm enjoying working here, getting a lot of support and the team has developed fantastically. I want to build on that, which is especially appealing in my home town." Hannover president Martin Kind was equally happy, adding: "Together with the team, he has achieved a lot in the past year. He avoided relegation and has followed that with the best first half to a season in the club's history."
