Laurent Banide has been installed as coach of AS Monaco FC for the second time, the Ligue 1 side replacing Guy Lacombe two days after being knocked out of the French Cup by fifth-tier side SO Chambéry.
Banide has been appointed until the end of the season. An official club statement read: "AS Monaco's president Étienne Franzi gathered the board and they decided, following the defeat in Chambery and a disappointing first half of the season, that the coaching staff needed reshuffling. As a consequence, Laurent Banide will take charge with immediate effect."
The 42-year-old, who is the son of former Monaco coach Gérard, has already had a spell in charge at the club, helping the side rise from 19th to ninth between his appointment in October 2006 and the end of that season. However, his contract was not renewed and he left to coach in the Middle East. Former Stade Rennais FC coach Lacombe, 55, leaves after 18 months at the helm, with the club sitting 17th in France.
