Ruud Gullit has been appointed coach of FC Terek Grozny, filling the void left by Víctor Muñoz's departure last month.
The 48-year-old Gullit, winner of back-to-back European Champion Clubs' Cups with AC Milan in 1989 and 1990, has previously managed Chelsea FC, Newcastle United FC, Feyenoord and Los Angeles Galaxy. The former Dutch international, winner of EURO '88, has signed an 18-month contract with Terek, who finished ninth in last season's Russian Premier League.
"Negotiations with Gullit were successful," said a club statement. "The terms are the same we offered to our previous candidate [Muñoz]. Gullit has signed a one-and-a-half year contract with the option of a possible extension. The club's president has set the goal of qualifying for Europe next term."
