A late equaliser from Dariusz Dudka prevented LOSC Lille Métropole from moving seven points clear in France as the leaders were held 1-1 at AJ Auxerre.
A 1-0 loss for Paris Saint-Germain FC at Stade Rennais FC on Saturday opened the door for Lille to surge comfortably clear of their closest pursuers, and they looked well placed to do just that when Moussa Sow notched his 16th Ligue 1 effort this term after nine minutes. With just four minutes remaining, however, the northerners failed to clear their lines following a free-kick, allowing Dudka to level from close range.
Rudi Garcia's men nonetheless enjoy a five-point cushion at the top, with sixth-placed Olympique Lyonnais unable to join PSG and Rennes in a chasing pack on 37 points as they played out a goalless stalemate with visitors FC Girondins de Bordeaux. Toulouse FC are now up to seventh after they downed relegation-threatened AS Monaco FC 2-0, Moussa Sissoko scoring twice after the break.
