LOSC Lille Métropole have moved to within one point of the Ligue 1 title thanks to a 1-0 win against FC Sochaux-Montbéliard.
Having lifted the French Cup at the weekend, Lille returned their attention to the league knowing victory would put themselves within touching distance of the title. Gervinho struck the game's only goal in the 53rd minute, the Ivorian's 15th top-flight goal of the season.
It proved enough to see off Sochaux and move the hosts six points clear of second-placed defending champions Olympique de Marseille with two Ligue 1 games remaining. Rudi Garcia's side can clinch the title on Saturday as long as they avoid defeat at Paris Saint-Germain FC.
In the night's other game, Cheick Diabaté scored the only goal of the game as FC Girondins de Bordeaux beat PSG 1-0 to move up to eighth and dent their visitors' hopes of a top-three finish.
