Eljero Elia has joined SV Werder Bremen from Juventus for a reported €5.5m fee.

Dutch international winger Elia, 25, has signed a four-year contract, and Bremen could be due a further €2m depending on the club achieving certain goals this season. A former ADO Den Haag and FC Twente player, Elia has been capped 26 times and was part of the Netherlands squad that reached the 2010 FIFA World Cup final. He joined Juve a year ago from Hamburger VS but only managed five appearances for the Italian champions, missing out on UEFA EURO 2012.

Sporting director Klaus Allofs said: "We are happy to have him here with us at Werder Bremen. He is already taking part in training."

Elia added: "I know the league very well. The Bundesliga is among the best leagues in the world. The crowds are very big and the competition is also of a very high standard. Hopefully I can contribute to the club's success and move into the reckoning for the Dutch national team again through good performances with Werder."
