Juventus scored four against SS Lazio for the second time in a matter of weeks as they cruised to a 4-1 victory in Turin.
The Bianconeri were keen to build on their Italian Super Cup triumph and were ahead when Arturo Vidal flicked in Paul Pogba's delightful clipped pass. The Chilean midfielder then timed another surge forward to meet a long pass and double the advantage.
Miroslav Klose gobbled up a rare lapse by Juve goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon to halve the deficit, but Lazio's joy was short-lived as they were swept aside in the second half. Mirko Vučinić squeezed a third past Federico Marchetti, and then gave a neat dummy to create space for Carlos Tévez to curl in a fourth. Lazio's Hernanes was dismissed midway through the second half.
Earlier, SSC Napoli's record signing Gonzalo Higuaín opened his Serie A account while Marek Hamšík and Alberto Paloschi struck twice apiece as Napoli won 4-2 at AC Chievo Verona. Partenopei talisman Hamšík scored twice – firing a superb first in off a post from 20 metres – to ensure two close-range finishes from Chievo's Paloschi were mere consolations.
