Giuseppe Rossi and Mario Gomez each scored two as ACF Fiorentina won a 5-2 at Genoa CFC, on a day when AS Roma, AC Milan and FC Internazionale Milano all won.

Restricted by injury to just one substitute appearance last term, 26-year-old Rossi appears anxious to make up for lost time and scored a long-range effort in between an Alberto Aquilani header and Gomez's first Serie A goal to hand the Viola a 3-0 half-time lead.

Rossi's second was a tap-in but crucial, coming after Alberto Gilardino's stunning angled volley had threatened a momentum shift. The game was now beyond Genoa, despite Francesco Lodi's penalty, but Gomez extinguished any trace of doubt with a late spot kick of his own as Mario Sampirisi was dismissed for the Rossoblù.

Yuto Nagatomo and Rodrigo Palacio had put Genoa to the sword on matchday one, and they both registered again as Inter came away from Calcio Catania with their perfect start intact. The Nerazzurri went one better this time, Ricardo Álvarez supplementing those strikes in a 3-0 win.

Elsewhere, Hellas Verona FC, who shocked Milan on the opening day, looked set to frustrate Roma too, but they were swept away by three goals in ten second-half minutes, including an effort from debutant Adem Ljajić. Meanwhile, Mario Balotelli's first of the season helped Milan recover from their setback last weekend by beating Cagliari Calcio 3-1.
