AS Monaco FC returned to the top of the table in France after Falcao's early penalty sealed a 1-0 victory against FC Lorient, before OGC Nice prevailed 2-0 at LOSC Lille.
Unbeaten Monaco secured their fourth success in five Ligue 1 outings since returning to the top flight thanks to a sixth-minute breakthrough at the Stade Louis II. Sent clear by Lucas Ocampos, Falcao was brought down by Fabien Audard as he attempted to round the Lorient goalkeeper and promptly dispatched the resultant penalty with a low right-footed effort to claim his fourth league strike this term.
Olympique Lyonnais made it three games without a win as they were held to a goalless draw by Stade Rennais FC, who registered their second successive Ligue 1 stalemate. Bafétimbi Gomis' shot which struck the crossbar for the hosts in the second half was the closest either side came to a breakthrough.
Also on Sunday, Nice lifted themselves up to seventh with a noteworthy win in northern France, Christian Brüls twice setting up Dario Cvitanich to score on the break in the first half.
