AC Chievo Verona recovered from an early setback to post their first win of the season, beating Udinese Calcio 2-1, while Cagliari Calcio and UC Sampdoria shared four goals equally – three arriving in the last six minutes.
The Flying Donkeys' hopes of securing a maiden three points of the campaign suffered a blow after just 50 seconds, as Maicosuel pounced on a mis-hit backpass and dribbled into and empty goal. Chievo icon Sergio Pellissier soon had the hosts level, however, springing the offside trap and producing a neat angled finish. Luca Rigoni's deflected strike looped in to give Chievo a half-time lead, and Udinese could not find a way past inspired custodian Christian Puggioni in the second period.
Trieste hosted a remarkable contest between Cagliari and Sampdoria. With the Blucerchiati seemingly suffering a hangover from their 3-0 derby defeat last weekend, Albin Ekdal's goal appeared to be the winner Cagliari. But Manolo Gabbiadini squirmed a last-minute leveller past Michael Agazzi. Daniele Conti's free-kick as added-time started was the perfect riposte, but Lorenzo di Silvestri ensured it ended honours even. Genoa CFC were unable to build on last week's Derby della Lanterna success, drawing blanks at home against promoted AS Livorno Calcio.
