Nicolae Stanciu's 27th-minute strike was not enough to give Romania victory in a challenging friendly fixture in Como, Italy, Jeremy Bokila striking late to secure a 1-1 draw for DR Congo.
In the first of two friendly games taking place in Italy during Romania's pre-UEFA EURO 2016 training camp, Anghel Iordănescu created a minor stir by giving striker Denis Alibec a starting place – and only his second cap. However, it was Steaua's Nicolae Stanciu who gave them the lead, finishing from the edge of the box on 27 minutes after a defensive error.
Pacy DR Congo gave Romania a good run-out, with both sides' goalkeepers called upon repeatedly. However, the usually impressive Romanian defence gave way with three minutes to go, former Petrolul Ploiești player Bokila stealing in to turn in a low cross from close range. Romania remain unbeaten in 15 games regardless.
