Pauleta prize for PSG

Paris Saint-Germain FC have completed the signing of Portugal striker Pauleta from FC Girondins de Bordeaux.

Player exchange
The 30-year-old forward has put pen to paper on a three-year contract after passing a medical in Paris this afternoon. PSG have paid a reported €12m for the former CD Estoril-Praia, UD Salamanca and RC Deportivo La Coruña player, with Argentinian defender Mauricio Pochettino moving in the opposite direction. "Bordeaux confirm that Pedro Miguel Carreiro Resendes [Pauleta] has been transferred to PSG," the selling club said in a statement today.

'One of the best'
PSG coach Vahid Halihodžić was delighted to have captured France's player of the last two seasons. "Pauleta is one of the best players in France - a fighter, very strong and completely unpredictable." Pauleta, who has 45 Portugal caps, joined Bordeaux in September 2000 and scored 65 goals in 98 league matches for the Girondins club. Meanwhile, Bordeaux will unveil Pochettino on Monday, when the 31-year-old Argentinian international will be presented to the media.
