Article body
Czech coach Jaroslav Guertler has taken over at 1. FC Košice, the Slovakian first division's bottom club, following the sacking of Erik Bogdanovsky.
Ninth change
The appointment of Guertler, former coach of FC Baník Ostrava in his homeland, represents the ninth coaching change in the 1. Liga this season. He joins fellow Czechs Leos Kalvoda, of MŠK Zilina, and FC Tatran Prešov's Jindrich Dejmal in the Slovakian top flight.
Survival plans
The 47-year-old has also coached AEK Larnaca FC in Cyprus in addition to being Milan Macala's assistant during his stewardship of the national teams of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Guertler said his only objective is to "salvage" Košice's place in the division but the 1993 champions appear doomed to relegation.
