Article body
FC Haka will be heavily handicapped for the start of the Finnish season after first-choice goalkeeper Panu Toivonen was ruled out of action for up to three months with a wrist injury.
Wrist injury
The 29-year old Toivonen hurt his wrist earlier in the spring when Haka were preparing for the new season in Cyprus. The injury has not healed as quickly as expected and the goalkeeper will now have to undergo surgery later this week. He is expected to be back in the squad in late June at the earliest.
Confident Huttunen
Haka coach Olli Huttunen will now have to rely on two relatively inexperienced goalkeepers - Mikko Vilmunen, aged 21, and Markus Koljander, aged 18. According to Huttunen, Haka are not looking for a new goalkeeper in the transfer market. "We will of course keep our eyes open, but we are not actively looking for a replacement for Panu," Huttunen said. "I have full confidence in both our young keepers."
