Article body
Ivan Katalinic has been appointed coach of the newly proclaimed Croatian champions NK Zagreb.
Widely tipped
Katalinic was widely tipped for the role after Zlatko Kranjcar decided to leave the club. Katalinic is currently in Austria working with the Croatian national squad and will go to the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals but said his move from HNK Rijeka to Zagreb will go ahead following the tournament.
‘This is final’
"I haven't had any written contract with Rijeka because I was waiting for Zagreb's decision," Katalinic said. "They have accepted me so this is final for me. Zagreb director Dragan Maric will come here to Austria so that we finalise the agreement."
Respected
Katalinic is one of Croatia's most respected coaches and his most notable achievement was leading HNK Hajduk Split to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions league in 1995.
