FC Nantes Atlantique will be without playmaker Stéphane Ziani for a further four to six weeks after tests revealed his thigh injury was more serious than first thought.
Sidelined since opening day
Ziani has been sidelined since the opening match of the season against Olympique de Marseille on 3 August. Following tests conducted over the last days, the club’s medical staff have ordered Ziani to rest for up to six weeks before resuming full activity. "It’s a pity, I was beginning to feel better," said the 31-year old.
First defeat
After winning their first two league games against Marseille and SC Bastia, the 2001 French champions suffered their first defeat of the season at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard on Saturday.
