Dimech makes Maltese return

Birkirkara FC have finalised the transfer of Maltese international Luke Dimech from Shamrock Rovers FC.

Old friends meet
The 26-year-old will play for Birkirkara until the end of the season, when he will have the option of returning to Dublin and Shamrock. However, Dimech's immediate aim is Saturday's Premier League showdown against his old team Sliema Wanderers FC.

International clearance
The centre-back is expected to make his debut for second-placed Birkirkara against the league leaders provided his international clearance comes through in time from the Football Association of Ireland (FAI). The Stripes' other new signing, midfield player Rufin Oba, should also feature in the match at the National Stadium.
