Paris Saint-Germain FC were Sunday's big winners, despite not playing, as their two closest rivals cancelled each other out at the Stade de Gerland.
Second-placed Olympique Lyonnais had the chance to cut the gap to the leaders to two points with victory against Olympique de Marseille in third, but neither side could find the breakthrough as it ended 0-0.
In a game that promised much but delivered little in the way of goalmouth action, André-Pierre Gignac proved a handful for the visitors yet was limited to efforts from range, which rarely threatened Rémy Vercoutre in the Lyon goal.
At the other end, Gueïda Fofana twice fired wide, and the match ended with precious few efforts on target. With PSG having come from behind to defeat AS Nancy-Lorraine 2-1 on Saturday, Lyon now lie four points off the pace, with OM three further back.
OGC Nice moved fifth with a third win in four, Stéphane Bahoken hitting both goals in a 2-0 win at home to Montpellier Hérault SC, while Cheick Diabaté got the only goal of the game as FC Girondins de Bordeaux beat SC Bastia to go ninth.
