Hosts set for groundbreaking UEFA Futsal EURO 2026

Latvia, Lithuania and Slovenia will stage UEFA Futsal EURO 2026 between 21 January and 7 February, and all three national associations are relishing the opportunity to stage a world-class tournament.

UEFA Futsal EURO 2026 promises to be another top-quality demonstration of the indoor game, with fast-paced, highly skilled action for fans to enjoy.

It will be the first time as senior UEFA tournament hosts for both Latvia and Lithuania, with Slovenia having previously hosted the tournament in 2018.

"In January and February, Latvia, Lithuania and Slovenia will come together to host a truly special edition of Futsal EURO – a celebration of teamwork, talent and unity," said UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin.

"It will be a moment for Europe’s futsal family to share the spirit of the game in an atmosphere filled with joy, energy and respect – values that lie at the heart of futsal."

Excitement building for co-hosts

Senior representatives of the tournament’s co-hosts were all present at November’s draw in Kaunas and the enthusiasm for the sport and the upcoming 16-team event were palpable.

"It’s a big honour for all three of us countries to host it," said Lithuanian Football Federation president Edgaras Stankevičius. "For us. it’s like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to host this kind of event and participate."

Former futsal player and president of the Latvian Football Federation Vadims Ļašenko is now chair of the UEFA Futsal Committee, and echoed his colleague’s sentiments.

"As a player, I never received the dream to play in the final competition, but as the president I’ve made it," he said. "We are happy to see our team play, and I’m sure it will be the best-ever EURO."

Both Latvia and Lithuania qualified automatically as co-hosts, with Slovenia joining them through the qualification process, and will be hopeful of making it all the way to the final, which is set to be held at the Arena Stožice in Ljubljana.

"The UEFA Futsal EURO is an excellent tournament, and we’re really delighted to be a part of it," said Martin Koželj, general secretary of the Slovenian Football Federation.

"It is a tournament which is family-orientated, friendly, and allows you to boost the interest in futsal even further. We would like to thank our colleagues and UEFA for giving us this opportunity to host, and we can’t wait to start."

New Futsal EURO trophy unveiled

The winners of UEFA Futsal EURO 2026 will be the first to lift the newly designed trophy, the newest member of the UEFA Futsal trophy collection which also includes the UEFA Women’s Futsal EURO and UEFA Under-19 Futsal EURO.

Weighing approximately 13kg, the trophy stands 70cm tall and measures 18cm across its base. The names of the 12 previous champions are engraved across three back panels, while the front proudly features the UEFA logo. Inside the base of the trophy flue sits an anodised UEFA Futsal EURO logo icon, which is also emblazoned on the underside of the outer base.

Spain hold the record for most titles, having won the tournament on seven occasions. Italy and Portugal, champions of the last two editions, have each claimed the trophy twice.
