Creating safer environments at the heart of new German safeguarding initiative

About UEFA Sustainability Members Child and youth protection

The German Football Association has launched a new safeguarding initiative aimed at strengthening child and youth protection across grassroots football.

The initiative is called 'My Game. My Limit.'

Launched on World Children’s Day, the 'Mein Spiel. Meine Grenze.' ('My Game. My Limit.') campaign raises awareness of children’s rights, empowers young players and helps clubs create safer environments for everyone involved in the game.

Through the initiative, the German Football Association (DFB) is supporting clubs in establishing protection and prevention structures as part of a long-term commitment to embed safeguarding across approximately 24,000 amateur clubs in Germany.

Germany internationals Oliver Baumann and Joshua Kimmich are supporting the initiative, while the DFB and UNICEF marked the launch by welcoming children and young people to the DFB Campus for a dedicated event focused on football and children’s rights.

Safeguarding resources

The campaign includes a range of practical resources and educational materials.

A child-friendly flyer explains key rights for children and young people in football and offers practical advice on where to seek support. Separate guidance for adults provides parents, coaches and clubs with practical information on recognising and responding to safeguarding concerns, while a comprehensive brochure includes guidance on child protection policies, boundary violations and best practice measures for clubs.

Posters and digital resources are also available to help clubs promote safeguarding contacts and raise awareness locally. Short videos have been created to communicate the campaign’s messages in an accessible and engaging way for young audiences across social media platforms.
