Nigerian international striker Yakuba Aiyegbeni has agreed a new contract with Portsmouth FC, keeping him at the Premiership club until summer 2007. Four days after losing Noé Pamarot to Tottenham Hotspur FC, OGC Nice have captured François Grenet from Stade Rennais FC. The 29-year-old right-back has agreed a two-year deal. Nice had waited for the former Derby County FC player's contract to expire before making their move. At his new club, Grenet links up with Gernot Rohr, the coach who launched his career at FC Girondins de Bordeaux.

Italian side AC Siena have signed midfield player Fabio Pecchia on a season's loan from Bologna FC, with the option of making the deal permanent next summer. Siena will become the 31-year-old's seventh Serie A club following spells at SSC Napoli, Juventus FC, UC Sampdoria, Torino Calcio and Como Calcio.

Dutch outfit RBC Roosendaal have landed striker Jesper Håkansson on a season-long loan from SC Heerenveen. The 24-year-old played 23 matches and scored three goals in the Eredivisie last term. With 15 of 18 rounds of matches played, Iceland's defending champions KR Reykjavík can no longer reclaim their league title after a 3-2 home defeat by lowly Grindavík. FH Hafnarfjördur, who scored two late goals to rescue a point at home to ÍA Akranes, are now two points clear of Fylkir who won 3-1 at Víkingur Reykjavík. Gunnar Heidar Thorvaldsson, who plays for third-placed ÍBV Vestmannaeyjar, remains the division's top scorer with 12 goals.
