There are many ways that children can take part in football events – as players, ball kids, players mascot, referee mascot, ceremony kids, flag carriers.
Our Child and Youth Protection Event Guidelines advise that organisers take particular care to minimise risks for children attending events without a parent or legal guardian. They should also clearly identify who is responsible for managing complaints or safeguarding concerns.
The guidelines are here to help you create a safe and inclusive environment. They outline key terms, core principles, roles and responsibilities, potential risks and practical measures — both preventive and responsive — to support the wellbeing of every child and young person involved.
