FC Bayern München's hopes of defending their UEFA Champions League crown have been boosted by the return to training of influential playmaker Stefan Effenberg.
Return planned
The 33-year-old former German international injured his foot in July and has not played since the opening day of the 1. Bundesliga season. However, he hopes to return to action in time for the league clash with SV Werder Bremen on 17 November and Bayern's first two games in the second stage of the Champions League on 20 November and 5 December.
Hitzfeld comments
"There are still minor hurdles, but it is looking good for his return," said coach Ottmar Hitzfeld of Effenberg, who confirmed last week that he would leave Bayern at the end of the season.
