Arsenal hit by Ljungberg injury

Arsenal FC have confirmed that Freddie Ljungberg is likely to be out for three to four weeks.

Arsenal FC have confirmed that their Swedish midfielder Freddie Ljungberg is likely to be out of action for three to four weeks.

No serious damage
Ljungberg, who sustained ankle, knee and rib injuries following a collision with Jason Wilcox in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Leeds United AFC at Elland Road, had x-rays on Monday which showed no serious damage. Initial reports suggested Ljungberg could be out for two months but an Arsenal spokeswoman said: “The injuries don’t appear to be too serious.” The 24-year-old will have further scans later this week as a precaution.

Back for Lagerback
Ljungberg has had a major impact on Arsenal’s season, scoring some important goals from midfield, and he is equally important to his country as they prepare for the FIFA World Cup. Sweden’s assistant coach Lars Lagerback said on Monday he hoped the player might even be fit in time for the friendly against Greece on February 13.
