Sharp joins UEFA in supplier deal

UEFA has announced that Sharp Corporation will be an official UEFA Champions League supplier for three seasons from 2003/04.

Perimeter signage
A statement by European football's governing body on Wednesday said that the supplier package would grant Sharp exposure such as perimeter signage at all matches in Europe’s blue-riband club competition.

Advertising and promotion
Sharp will also be entitled to use the Champions League logo in advertising and promotion of their audio-visual equipment, home appliances and mobile phones. Sharp Corporation is a leader in liquid crystal displays and digital technologies.

Great pleasure
"It gives me great pleasure to welcome Sharp Corporation on board as official supplier of the UEFA Champions League," said UEFA Chief Executive Gerhard Aigner, who was joined at Wednesday's signing ceremony by Sharp executive Toshishige Hamano.

Excellent exposure
"It is the first time Sharp has been directly involved in a UEFA competition and by being present on the stage of football's premier club competition in the world, they are guaranteed excellent exposure. We look forward to a successful partnership."
