PSV plump for promising Peruvian

PSV Eindhoven have signed playmaker Jefferson Agustín Farfán Guadalupe from Peruvian side C. Alianza Lima.

Championship medal
The highly-rated 19-year-old, who can also play on the right wing, has signed a four-year contract at PSV. Farfán scored 13 goals last season, including the winner in the championship decider as Alianza claimed the 2003 Peruvian league title. He has also played 15 matches for the Peru national team and has scored five goals.

Following greats
Farfán believes that PSV, who will play in the UEFA Champions League qualification round, are a perfect stepping stone for him. "A lot of young South American players have walked this road before me," he said. "Look at Ronaldo and Romário. This league is very good for young attacker like me and PSV are a top club with excellent organisation."
