Gudjohnsen pride at family ties

Familiar territory
The striker was on familiar territory as he returned to the Constant Vanden Stock stadium, where his father - Arnór Gudjohnsen - played in some of the most successful seasons of his career, finishing as the Belgian First Division's top scorer in the 1986/87 season.

Memory lane
"Just driving up here brought a few memories back," said the Chelsea forward ahead of the UEFA Champions League Group G fixture. "I used to come here every week to watch my father play. It's the team I supported as a boy. I remember my parents saying I wouldn't go to bed without my Anderlecht shirt.

First game
"I've never played here, except for after my dad's games when I stole a few minutes with the ball. Anderlecht have always been a top team and will continue to be a great team in Belgium. I think Belgian TV want to get my old man over but I think he'd prefer to sit at home and watch it on TV."

Historic occasion
On 24 April 1996, the Gudjohnsens entered football history in an Iceland friendly against Estonia in Tallinn. Arnór started the match, and Eidur came on in the second half as a substitute for his father - the first time that a father and son had ever played in the same international match.
