Article body
Philippe Senderos will miss the opening months of the season with Arsenal FC after the young defender dislocated his shoulder during Switzerland's FIFA World Cup win against the Korea Republic last month.
'Three months'
The 21-year-old was injured in the second half of the game on 23 June, having scored in the first to set Switzerland on their way to a 2-0 win and the World Cup knockout rounds. Senderos's exertions have proved costly, however, with Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger revealing: "We have lost Senderos for the next three months."
Missing dates
The Premiership club may therefore be without the centre-back for the first three Matchdays of the UEFA Champions League season, subject to the Londoners negotiating their third qualifying round tie against still-to-be decided opponents. Matchday 3 of the tournament is scheduled for 17/18 October. Senderos has played 33 league games for Arsenal since moving to England from Servette FC in 2003.
