Arsenal suffer Gallas blow

Arsenal FC look set to be without defender William Gallas for the rest of the group stage after the French international pulled a thigh muscle in training today.

Arsenal FC look set to be without defender William Gallas for the rest of the UEFA Champions League group stage after the French international pulled a thigh muscle today in training ahead of tomorrow night's visit of Hamburger SV.

'A blow'
Manager Arsène Wenger revealed the news, saying: "It is his thigh and he will be out for a few weeks. It is a blow." Gallas, who joined Arsenal from Chelsea FC in a deadline-day swap with Ashley Cole, has appeared in all four of their Group G fixtures so far. Last season's defeated finalists lie second in the pool, but will need good results against Hamburg and then at FC Porto on 6 December to ensure they reach the knockout phase again.
