Celtic FC goalkeeper Artur Boruc has ended speculation about his future by committing himself to the Scottish champions for a further three-and-a-half years.
Speculation
"Celtic have been good for me and I'd like to think I've been good for them," the Poland No1 said. "I'm committed to Celtic. If the interest in me continues then at least Celtic will be in a good position." The 27-year-old, who has helped the Hoops reach the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League for the second consecutive season, had been linked with a move away from Scotland, but the new contract means Boruc is tied to the Glasgow club at least until the summer of 2011.
Strachan pleased
"I am thankful to Celtic Football Club because they believed in me from the beginning," said the former Legia Warszawa custodian. "That is why I decided to accept the contract, which is on very good terms, for the next three years." Celtic manager Gordon Strachan added: "Clearly this is great news for the club and we are delighted to have agreed this new extended contract with Artur. He has made a massive contribution to our success in the past two seasons and will hopefully continue to do so in the years ahead."
Barça test
The Bhoys face FC Barcelona in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League with the first leg at Celtic Park on 20 February and have already added to their squad during the January transfer window by securing Sevilla FC's German international full-back Andreas Hinkel on a three-and-a-half year deal.
