Maloney makes his way back to Celtic

Scotland winger Shaun Maloney has returned to Celtic FC from Aston Villa FC, signing a four-year contract with the UEFA Champions League contenders.

Wrong move
The 25-year-old passed medical tests in Glasgow on Thursday and has rejoined the club just 12 months after joining UEFA Cup contenders Villa on a free transfer. "I don't want to use the word regrets as I don't want to disrespect Villa, but I knew in my heart of hearts that it wasn't the right move for me," he said. "It wasn't the club that I wanted to play for."

Rangers signing
A fee which could rise as high as €3m has been agreed for Maloney. Meanwhile, Celtic's rivals Rangers FC have confirmed that they have signed United States international defensive midfielder Maurice Edu from Major League Soccer, where he has been playing with Toronto FC. The 22-year-old has agreed a five-year contract after being granted a work permit.
