Werder Bremen are hoping defender Clemens Fritz will be fit in time for the club's crucial UEFA Champions League match at Anorthosis Famagusta FC after he sustained a muscle injury to his left thigh during Tuesday’s 3-0 home defeat by Panathinaikos FC.
Recent problems
The 27-year-old German international lasted only 23 minutes after coming on at half-time against the Greek side and coach Thomas Schaaf said: "He won't play for at least two weeks." Fritz has been absent for the last two Bundesliga games due to further thigh problems and added himself: "It's not going well for me at the moment." Bremen are bottom of Group B but are just two points behind Anorthosis who they meet on 26 November in Cyprus.
