Vidić shows Serbian duo the way

Zoran Tošić said he would "not waste the opportunity of being a member of the greatest football family" as he aims to emulate compatriot Nemanja Vidić and become an integral member of Manchester United FC's squad.

Manchester United FC signings Zoran Tošić and Adem Ljajić are aiming to follow the example of their fellow Serbian Nemanja Vidić as they became what Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson said would be the European champions' only signings of the transfer window.

Rapid rise
Tošić joins United after enjoying a rapid rise since starring for Serbia at the 2007 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. His performances in the Netherlands during that tournament earned him a move to FK Partizan and he has gone on to play 12 senior games for Serbia. The 21-year-old is now looking forward to his next challenge. "At the beginning it was a dream to play somewhere like United but now it is a reality, one I am very happy with," Tošić said. "I want to become a top player at United and not waste the opportunity of being a member of the greatest football family.

Vidić example
"It is great feeling, but now I must think about working hard," he added. "The presence of Nemanja Vidić will be a great help as I know him from the national team. I am full of confidence, will learn quickly and hope United can count on me very soon." Vidić has become an integral part of Ferguson's side, but while Tošić will be able to take advantage of his advice straight away, Ljajić will wait another 12 months before he moves permanently to Manchester. Like Tošić, the 17-year-old comes from Partizan, has represented his country at youth levels and has been earmarked for greatness. "It has all happened so fast for me," Ljajić said. "I am only 17 and have had some dreams in the past but can now have one more: the United shirt … however, I will spend the next year learning more at Partizan and I will be ready for Old Trafford next January."
