Porto pick up Madrid from Braga

UEFA Champions League contenders FC Porto have added to their squad by signing the 27-year-old Argentinian midfielder Andrés Madrid on loan until the end of the season from fellow Portuguese Liga club SC Braga.

Portuguese Liga leaders FC Porto have added to their squad with the signing of midfielder Andrés Madrid on loan until the end of the season from SC Braga.

Option to buy
Porto have the option to make the deal for the 27-year-old Argentinian a permanent one should he impress at the Estádio do Dragão. The former Club Atlético Platense player arrived at the UEFA Cup contenders from Club Gimnasia y Esgrima in 2004 and went on to become a regular, playing in 61 league matches in his first three seasons at the club. However, last season Madrid featured just eleven times and this term has appeared in just one of Braga's 15 Liga fixtures.

Linz loan
Another player leaving Braga is Austria striker Roland Linz. The 27-year-old has joined Swiss Super League outfit Grasshopper-Club on loan until the end of the season. Both Porto and Braga return to European action next month with Porto facing Club Atlético de Madrid in the first knockout round of the UEFA Champions League while Braga play R. Standard de Liège in the UEFA Cup Round of 32.
