Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Fábio Santos will be out for up to ten days after sustaining an injury to his right thigh in training on Thursday, putting him in doubt for the first leg of the French champions' UEFA Champions League first knockout round tie against FC Barcelona on 24 February.

Puel confident
Scans on Friday confirmed the extent of the injury, though his coach Claude Puel remains optimistic that the Brazilian will be fit in time to face the Spanish league leaders. "His body is not used to the pile up of games, but we hope he will be back in the squad to play Barcelona on 24 February," Puel said.

Injury list
A succession of injuries has restricted the Brazilian to just two starts in Ligue 1 this season. This latest setback adds to Puel's concerns as he contends with a lengthy absentee list with Sidney Govou, François Clerc, César Delgado and Anthony Réveillère all out injured. On a brighter note, Mathieu Bodmer will play his second reserve team game on Saturday as he continues his recovery from a serious groin injury.
