FC Twente have signed Costa Rican international Bryan Ruiz from KAA Gent for a reported club record fee of €5m.
Four-year contract
The 23-year-old, who can play on the left wing or in support of the strikers, has accepted a four-year contract with last season's Dutch Eredivisie runners-up. Rumoured to be a target for a number of clubs across Europe, he will replace the Hamburger SV-bound Eljero Elia at the Enschede team. Ruiz joined Gent in 2006 from Costa Rican outfit LD Alajuelense and last term captained them to fourth place in Belgium, earning a UEFA Europa League second qualifying round slot. Twente go into Friday's UEFA Champions League third qualifying round draw, with their tie to be played on 28/29 July and 5/6 August.
