No first-date kiss for Eto'o

He did not kiss his badge, but Samuel Eto'o told reporters he was eager "to make history" as he spoke for the first time since concluding his move from FC Barcelona to FC Internazionale Milano.

Samuel Eto'o told reporters he was eager "to make history" as he spoke for the first time since concluding his move from FC Barcelona to FC Internazionale Milano.

Unveiling ceremony
On Monday, Zlatan Ibrahimović was paraded in front of 45,000 fans at Camp Nou following his arrival in Barcelona in a part-exchange deal which saw Eto'o join the Nerazzurri. Unlike his fellow striker, the Cameroonian did not kiss his new club's badge as he met the Italian press, insisting that he had work to do first.

True love waits
"Why don't I kiss my new jersey? First I have to show what I can do on the field," he said. "At the moment, the situation is similar to the one I found when I first arrived at Barcelona. If we win the Champions League, the fans will never forget us and we'll be legends. I'll do everything I can to reach that target."

No comparison
The 28-year-old, who scored in two UEFA Champions League finals for Barcelona, was rated as being worth €20m in the transfer, with his old club shelling out an extra €46m for Ibrahimović, but Eto'o was not concerned about the valuation. "I don't like comparisons; all the best to Ibra, but I'm Samuel Eto'o and my record speaks for itself," he said.

Point to prove
"I wish to thank my old club and the fans, as I spent 12 wonderful years in Spain, but now I'm here because Inter gave me some extra motivation, and I want to make history with this club," he added. "In recent seasons, I have often had the chance to play under José Mourinho, but it never happened. Now I want to repay his faith in me on the pitch. It's an honour to work under such a coach."
