UEFA Champions League contenders FC Porto have made their first signing of the January window by snaring Portuguese midfielder Rúben Micael on a four-and-a-half-year contract from fellow Liga side CD Nacional.

European exploits
Porto have paid €3m for 60% of the player's rights and the 23-year-old arrives after an impressive first half of the season for fifth-placed Nacional, during which he scored two goals in 16 league matches. Groomed at Madeira rivals CF União, Rúben made name in Europe this term by scoring five times in six UEFA Europa League Group L matches with a further two in the play-offs against FC Zenit St. Petersburg. Nacional ended the group phase in third place to drop out of Europe while Porto resume UEFA Champions League duty in the first leg of their round of 16 tie at home to Arsenal FC on 17 February.
