FC Rubin Kazan have signed TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's Brazilian international midfielder Carlos Eduardo on a four-year contract.
The 23-year-old attack-minded player moves to the Russian champions in a transfer reportedly worth €20m, to further increase Rubin's forward options after the recent arrivals of Obafemi Martins and Aleksei Medvedev. Rubin coach Kurban Berdyev welcomed his latest recruit, saying: "He is a versatile player who can play in several positions."
A product of Grêmio Foot-ball Porto Alegrense, Carlos Eduardo helped that club reach CONMEBOL's Copa Libertadores final in 2007 before joining Hoffenheim – then of the German 2. Bundesliga – in an €8m deal. Over the next three seasons he made 80 league appearances for his side, scoring 18 goals and creating just as many. His progress also earned him four international caps although he missed the cut for Brazil's FIFA World Cup finals squad.
Rubin, Premier-Liga winners in 2008 and 2009, enter this season's UEFA Champions League at the group stage.
