After finishing the group stage with 362 points, respectable but not brilliant, it's time to shift up a gear or two with the start of the knockout stage.
I will begin building my new squad from the front. Cristiano Ronaldo has scored only twice in this season's competition but I believe the UEFA Champions League's all-time top marksman will have a bigger impact for Real Madrid when it counts most. Another point in his favour is that the reigning champions face a Napoli side who have a wonderful attack yet often concede.
I will not select many players from Paris or Barcelona because I predict a tight affair in this titanic clash, but Luis Suárez is the perfect man to decide such a contest. Juventus's Gonzalo Higuaín completes my forward line as I think the Argentinian will benefit from Massimiliano Allegri's new 4-2-3-1 system which features several attacking players in the starting XI.
Juventus have a good chance of getting past Porto, so I will also pick Alex Sandro in my defence as the flying left-back could prosper against his old club. If Juventus want to reach the quarter-finals, however, they will need to be wary of André Silva, who stays in my squad after a convincing points return so far.
Casemiro, meanwhile, missed much of the group phase through injury but is now back in Real Madrid's midfield ... and mine, even if I don't see Zinédine Zidane's team having things as easy as many predict against Napoli. As for the Partenopei, Piotr Zieliński is a great deal at only €5.7m.
Nicolás Gaitán and Steven N'Zonzi may also figure in my midfield as I consider Atlético Madrid and Sevilla favourites to progress against Bayer Levekusen and Leicester. For the same reason I plan to add Adil Rami and Diego Godín in defence where Mats Hummels and Raphaël Guerreiro (one of the outstanding bargains at €4.7m) should also find space.
Last but not least, the goalkeepers: I want two pairs of safe hands here. Jan Oblak is injured yet Manuel Neuer and Gianluigi Buffon could certainly fit the bill.
