Shakhtar Donetsk and Lyon face a decisive matchday six encounter when they meet in Kyiv, with Group F's second qualification berth the target for both sides.

• Unbeaten Lyon sit second in the standings on seven points, two more than their opponents. With Manchester City already through, the French club will join them if they avoid defeat, and will finish top on head-to-head record if they win and City lose at home to bottom side Hoffenheim.

• Shakhtar will be through if they win. They will transfer to the UEFA Europa League round of 32 if they draw or Hoffenheim do not gain victory.

• The Ukrainian club led 2-0 in France on matchday two thanks to a double from Júnior Moraes either side of half-time (44, 55) only for Moussa Dembélé (70) and Léo Dubois (72) to salvage a point for the home side.

Highlights: Lyon 2-2 Shakhtar Donetsk

Form guide
Shakhtar
• The Ukrainian club's first two games both finished 2-2, Shakhtar preceding the draw at Lyon with a home stalemate against debutants Hoffenheim. Shakhtar then lost 3-0 to Manchester City in Kharkiv – equalling their worst home defeat in UEFA club competition – and 6-0 in Manchester before a crucial 3-2 success at Hoffenheim in their last fixture, Taison scoring the added-time winner.

• Shakhtar won all four of their home matches in last season's competition, beating Napoli, Feyenoord and City in the group stage and Roma in the round of 16.

• The loss to City on matchday three was only Shakhtar's second defeat in their last 16 home matches in Europe (W11 D3). They have not kept a clean sheet, however, in any of the last seven.

• Shakhtar qualified as winners of the Ukrainian league, claiming the title for the 11th time in 2017/18, when they completed a domestic double for the second season in succession.

• Quarter-finalists in 2010/11, Shakhtar reached the last 16 of the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League, losing to Roma on away goals (2-1 home, 1-0 away).

• The Ukrainian side have got out of their group in three of their last five participations.

• Shakhtar's last experience of French opposition before matchday two was home (0-3) and away (0-2) defeats against Paris Saint-Germain in the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League group stage. The former result was their first loss at home to French visitors (W3 D2).

Lyon
• After opening with an unexpected 2-1 win at Manchester City and drawing with Shakhtar, Lyon then drew 3-3 at Hoffenheim before another draw (2-2) at home, the German club scoring an added-time equaliser in both games. Matchday five meant four draws in a row as they shared the points at home to City (2-2).

• Those results make it just one defeat in the last nine European matches for Bruno Génésio's side, who have scored two or more goals in each of their last six European fixtures.

• Lyon are in the group stage for the third time in four seasons – their 2015/16 and 2016/17 campaigns both ended at that hurdle.

• In 2017/18, Lyon made it as far as the UEFA Europa League round of 16, but were denied the chance to appear in the final at their own ground as they lost to CSKA Moskva at that stage.

Watch Lyon make it four draws in a row

• The French club are unbeaten in their five games against Ukrainian clubs, home and away (W3 D2), scoring seven goals. Shakhtar's goals on matchday two were the first they had conceded in those fixtures.

• Lyon were UEFA Champions League semi-finalists in 2010 and are in the group stage for the 15th time – more than any other French club.

• Les Gones have lost only one of their last seven European away fixtures (W4 D2) and none of their last four in the UEFA Champions League (W2 D2).
