Matchday six facts and figures

• Germany has succeeded in taking forward all four of its participants into the UEFA Champions League knockout phase for the second successive season, and with the same four clubs – FC Bayern München, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer 04 Leverkusen and FC Schalke 04.

• That feat has only ever previously been achieved by England, who did it three times running from 2006/07 to 2007/09, also with the same four clubs in each campaign – Arsenal FC, Chelsea FC, Liverpool FC and Manchester United FC.

• Real Madrid CF are just the sixth team to win all six of their group stage fixtures and the only club to have done it twice. Their tally of 16 goals scored and two conceded is inferior only to their own record of 2011/12, when they struck 19 and let in two.

• The other four clubs with perfect group stage records are AC Milan (1992/93), Paris Saint-Germain (1994/95), FC Spartak Moskva (1995/96) and FC Barcelona (2002/03). None of these clubs – or indeed Madrid three seasons ago – went on to lift the trophy.

• Madrid's 100% group stage record is, however, the only one by a defending champion. The previous highest points tally registered by the holders was 16 – achieved by AFC Ajax (1995/96), Juventus (1996/97) and FC Barcelona (2011/12).

• Madrid's matchday six win against PFC Ludogorets Razgrad was their ninth in succession, one behind Bayern's competition record, and their 11th in a row at home, which is also one in arrears of the record mark held by Manchester United.

• Barcelona have progressed as group winners for the eighth successive season, thus extending their own competition record. It is the Catalan club's 16th top spot (including three in the second group stage), also a competition high.

• In addition to helping Barcelona top Group F with a 3-1 win at home to Paris, Xavi Hernández and Lionel Messi both improved their respective positions at the head of the UEFA Champions League's all-time top appearance and goalscorer rankings. Xavi made his 146th outing; Messi found the net for the 75th time.

• Matchday six also provided a memorable landmark for another Barça stalwart as Andrés Iniesta made his 100th UEFA Champions League appearance, the 24th player to accomplish that feat and the fourth for Barcelona after Xavi, Carles Puyol and Víctor Valdés. The only other player who can become a centurion this season is another Spaniard, Bayern's Xabi Alonso, who is on 99.

• AS Monaco FC, whose 2-0 win over FC Zenit came in their 50th UEFA Champions League match, became the ninth club to go through the group stage conceding just a single goal. No team has ever kept clean sheets in all six group games.

• FC BATE Borisov's 2-0 defeat at Athletic Club meant that the Belarusian club set a new record for the most goals conceded in the group stage – 24, an average of four per game. The previous mark, set jointly by GNK Dinamo Zagreb and FC Nordsjælland, was 22.

• Galatasaray AŞ's 19 goals against was the joint fourth highest total in the group stage. However, Wesley Sneijder's consolation effort in the 4-1 home defeat by Arsenal FC was the Turkish side's 100th UEFA Champions League effort, making them the 20th club to reach the century. Real Madrid have 431 goals, followed by Barcelona (395), Manchester United (343) and Bayern (341).
