Arsenal FC forward Joel Campbell has joined Olympiacos FC on a season-long loan "to gain further first-team experience".

The Costa Rican international, 21, who signed for the Gunners two years ago from Deportivo Saprissa SAD in his homeland, spent last term on the books of Real Betis Balompié and the 2011/12 campaign with FC Lorient.

The Pireaus club's latest recruit has scored seven goals in 25 international appearances. On Saturday he linked up his team-mates in Germany, where they are preparing for the new season and their participation in the UEFA Champions League group stage. Arsenal enter the competition in the play-off round.
