Article body
Four days after they claimed their first victory of the season, Hamburger SV have received another boost with goalkeeper Sascha Kirschstein and midfielder David Jarolím both signing new contracts with the German club.
Major commitment
With Sunday's 2-1 success at Bayer 04 Leverkusen signalling a major fillip after a hitherto winless start in the UEFA Champions League as well as the Bundesliga, Hamburg have agreed deals until 2010 and 2011 with key players Jarolím and Kirschstein. The 27-year-old Czech international Jarolím, who had been tied to the northern team until 2008, has made 96 appearances in the two and a half seasons since his transfer from 1. FC Nürnberg. Current No1 Kirschstein, 26, has played 22 matches since arriving as a goalkeeping understudy from SC Rot-Weiss Essen in the summer of 2004.
