Highlights: Bayern 2-0 Lokomotiv Moskva

A total of 21 players completed ten or more ball recoveries on Matchday 6, with defender Niklas Süle registering the highest total. The centre-back completed a total of 13 ball recoveries in Bayern's 2-0 victory over Lokomotiv Moskva in Group A, with the extra four #UCLfantasy points gained as a result boosting his overall score to 16 points.

Four players came in just behind Süle with 12 ball recoveries on Matchday 6, although only two of those will go on to compete in the round of 16. The first is Leipzig's Nordi Mukiele, whose four #UCLfantasy points accrued on Matchday 6 came solely through ball recoveries, while no article on this subject is complete without mentioning Cristian Romero.

Highlights: Ajax 0-1 Atalanta

After racking up another 12 recoveries in Atalanta's 1-0 win away to Ajax, Romero now has by the far and away the highest amount of ball recoveries over the course of the group stage with 72 overall. This has brought him a bumper 22 Fantasy points purely through ball recoveries.

Defenders aren't the only ball-winners of course, as there is plenty of value to be had in midfield when it comes to this avenue of points. Atlético's Saúl Ñíguez is one to look out for after he recorded ten ball recoveries on Matchday 6, while Real Madrid's Casemiro is perhaps the best example of a combative midfielder who can top up your points via this route.

Highlights: Leipzig 3-2 Manchester United

Going into the round of 16, #UCLfantasy managers still have plenty of options when searching for players who can provide them with those all-important ball recovery points that can give them a leg up in their respective mini leagues. Romero's numbers speak for themselves, but also consider Dayot Upamecano of Leipzig, who was suspended for Matchday 6 but who has nevertheless accumulated 47 ball recoveries in his five group stage appearances, putting him fourth highest in the overall list so far this season.

Meanwhile, Romero's Atalanta club-mate Berat Djimsiti has 50 ball recoveries to his name, has also proven himself as a worthwhile selection heading into future rounds. The Albanian recorded an impressive 11 ball recoveries on Matchday 6 and, given his 0% ownership at present, could prove to be an excellent differential option when the UEFA Champions League returns in February.
