Champions League Fantasy Football: The Scout squad

The Scout looks to capitalise on the appealing home fixtures for a number of sides while keeping faith with several players who have already delivered this season.

After three rounds of group games the picture in #UCLfantasy, presented by Playstation, is becoming ever clearer with a number of players producing consistently large points totals across the season so far. The Scout's squad for Matchday 4 reflects that, while also looking to make use of the appealing home fixtures for a number of clubs this week.

Classic moments: Biggest wins

Goalkeepers

As ever, there look to be a number of options for clean sheets on Matchday 4 with Sporting CP, Real Madrid, Bayern, Villarreal, Chelsea and Juventus among the sides boasting appealing home fixtures. Manchester City are still to manage a shut-out in Group A – in contrast to last season, where they let in just one goal in their first eight UEFA Champions League fixtures – but a visit from Club Brugge represents perhaps their best chance to date, so Ederson (€6.0m) gets the opportunity to add to his surprisingly low total of four #UCLfantasy points.

Tuesday's selection is Sevilla's Yassine Bounou (€5.0m), who kept his first clean sheet in Group G on Matchday 3 at LOSC Lille and now faces a home rematch against the French champions, who have scored only once in their 270 minutes of action so far. Three clean sheets in his last four games in all competitions suggest Bounou could be in line for another decent haul this week.

Defenders

Sevilla's defensive strength and LOSC travails in front of goal mean the Spanish side are also represented among the five defenders in the shape of Diego Carlos (€4.7m), who has picked up 15 points so far and who has two goals in his last three Liga appearances. Another defender in rich scoring form is Sporting CP captain Sebastián Coates (€5.0m), who has four goals in his last three games for the Portuguese champions including two in a 4-1 win at Beşiktaş on Matchday 3; the Uruguayan's set-piece threat makes him impossible to overlook.

Chelsea's Andreas Christensen (€5.4m) has picked up 26 points so far, the second highest total among defenders, thanks to two clean sheets, a goal and a bumper 21 balls recovered, with a visit to goalless Malmö earning him inclusion. Bayern centre-back Niklas Süle (€5.3m), whose side are at home to Benfica, has also capitalised on the ball recovering scoring system, picking up seven of his 25 points via that route to add to his three clean sheets, while Ajax's Noussair Mazraoui (€4.7m) has collected six points or more on all three appearances so far ahead of the trip to a Borussia Dortmund side deprived of key striker Erling Haaland.

Midfielders

In midfield, the Scout has opted for players in a rich vein of form, although budget constraints mean no place for Mohamed Salah for Liverpool's home game against Atlético. Instead Riyad Mahrez (€9.1m), who scored twice on Matchday 3 as Manchester City hit five at Club Brugge, and Kingsley Coman (€8.4m), who has two goals in his last three Bayern München matches, are the big-money buys.

The remaining three midfielders are Salzburg's Noah Okafor (€5.0m), who justified the Scout's faith on Matchday 3 with 15 points at home to Wolfsburg; his form and price tag mean he's again a logical pick. Arnaut Danjuma (€6.2m) has already scored five Liga goals this season and was on target in Villarreal's previous home game in Group F ahead of a visit from Young Boys, who they beat 4-1 in Switzerland last time out, while Serhiy Sydorchuk (€5.7m) has picked up five #UCLfantasy points in each of his last two games and, having scored twice in the Ukrainian Premier League at the weekend, is likely to be a key figure if Dynamo Kyiv are to get the better of Barcelona.

Forwards

Two of the three forwards are impossible to overlook. Ajax's Sébastien Haller (€8.9m) has six goals so far and seven points or more from each of his games ahead of a trip to a depleted Dortmund, while Bayern have scored four of more goals in six of their last nine fixtures, and Robert Lewandowski (€11.7m) has 19 goals in his 15 club appearances this summer, a potent combination ahead of the rematch with Benfica.

Vinícius Júnior (€8.1m) picked up 13 points in Real Madrid's 5-0 victory at Shakhtar Donetsk on Matchday 3 thanks to two goals and an assist, and is also enjoying a productive Liga campaign in front of goal. The Brazilian's seven strikes to date, including both in Saturday's win at Elche, is already more than in his first two seasons in Spain combined, making him a tempting inclusion for the home game against the Ukrainian side.
