Who should be my Champions League Fantasy Football Captain for Matchday 13?

Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, Alessandro Bastoni and Lautaro Martínez all have their merits as Fantasy captain for the UEFA Champions League final.

Who should be my Champions League Fantasy Football Captain for Matchday 13?

Manchester City face Inter in the conclusion of the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League and managers have an important decision to make as to who gets the armband on #UCLfantasy, presented by Playstation.

UEFA.com assesses the merits of two options from each finalist.

Pick your Fantasy captain for the final

Erling Haaland: Every Champions League goal so far

MANCHESTER CITY

Kevin De Bruyne (€10.6m)

De Bruyne has been integral in taking Man City to the brink of a sensational treble. The Belgian amassed 20 Fantasy points over both legs of the semi-final against Real Madrid thanks to a goal, two assists and a Player of the Match performance, and now stands on 67 points over the course of the season. No other player matches his seven assists in the competition, which is the most of any player in a Champions League campaign since 2017/18. Also set up both of his side's goals in the FA Cup final, City's last game before taking on Inter.

Erling Haaland (€11.2m)

Haaland failed to find the net in either leg of the semi-final with Real Madrid, and has only one goal in his last seven City appearances. That may deter some Fantasy managers from siding with the Norwegian for the armband, but that could play into the hands of those willing to put their faith in this season's Champions League top scorer. Haaland's 70 Fantasy points is still a City best and he remains the highest-owned player on the game by some distance.

Lautaro Martínez: Every Champions League goal

INTER

Alessandro Bastoni (€5.6m)

For those looking to captain an Inter player, Bastoni is one of the leading options. With 73 Fantasy points this season, the centre-back is the top scorer on the game and if Inter are to emerge victorious, then their defence will have a huge part to play given the attacking quality of their opponents. Simone Inzaghi's men have kept five clean sheets in their six knockout games, in which Bastoni has averaged 7.2 Fantasy points per game. His 39 ball recoveries – second only to Francesco Acerbi in the Inter defence – and a Player of the Match award on Matchday 9 show he has several routes to points.

Lautaro Martínez (€8.6m)

Captaining attacking players is often a favoured route for Fantasy managers, and Martínez looks the best Inter option in that respect. With Romelu Lukaku and Edin Džeko vying to start the final, there seems little doubt that Martínez will line up having featured in all of Inter's Champions League games this season and with three goal involvements to his name in the last three European fixtures. Martínez has already made a telling contribution in a final having scored both Inter goals in their Coppa Italia success against Fiorentina on 24 May.
