With Matchday 8 fast approaching on #UCLfantasy, presented by Playstation, UEFA.com picks out a number of players who have impressed of late and might be worth considering for the round of 16 second legs.
FEDERICO DIMARCO (€5.3m) – INTER
Inter lay a strong claim to be the best defence in European football, and their recent performances have solidified that belief. The Italian side have kept clean sheets in eight of their last nine fixtures, so Fantasy managers should certainly be considering at least one of their defensive options for the second leg at Atlético de Madrid. The leading choice at the moment is arguably left wing-back Dimarco, who has both scored and assisted in recent Serie A outings to underline his attacking threat alongside that defensive fortitude.
KHVICHA KVARATSKHELIA (€9.5m) – NAPOLI
Kvaratskhelia may have only recorded one attacking return in the group stage – an assist against Union Berlin on Matchday 3 – but his recent domestic performances will have caused Fantasy managers to take note. The Georgian winger recorded two goals and an assist in a 6-1 Serie A victory against Sassuolo on 28 February, linking up to devasting effect with Victor Osimhen. Kvaratskhelia's Fantasy ownership is just 9% at present, so he is still a good differential option heading into Matchday 8.
ERLING HAALAND (€11.7m) – MAN CITY
Like a number of premium strikers, Haaland failed to deliver on Matchday 7, but patience is key and if his recent goalscoring exploits are anything to go by, then his vast numbers of Fantasy owners could be in for a significant points return on Matchday 8. The Manchester City striker scored five times at home to Leipzig on Matchday 8 last season and repeated the feat in the FA Cup win at Luton on 27 February. Despite missing almost two months of the campaign due to injury, the Norwegian still has 27 goals in all competitions this season.
VICTOR OSIMHEN (€9.8m) – NAPOLI
Osimhen has been in fine goalscoring form lately, scoring in all three of Napoli's fixtures since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations. That includes his strike against Barcelona in the round of 16 first leg, while his most recent Serie A outing brought a hat-trick against Sassuolo with an assist added in for good measure. If Napoli are to prevail on Matchday 8, expect Osimhen to play a pivotal role.
LUUK DE JONG (€8.4m) – PSV
One of Europe's most in-form strikers, De Jong is scoring with regularity at the moment. The Dutchman – on target against Dortmund on Matchday 7 – scored a hat-trick in his most recent domestic fixture, taking him past 30 goals in a season for the fourth time in his career. In all competitions, the 33-year-old has found the net 14 times in his last 11 games – a statistic that could improve even further by the time PSV contest the return leg with Dortmund on Matchday 8.
